Sandlot Verse
There are poems in the glovesmith’s renewal. No big secret there, I reckon. Here’s one now. Shook loose in ode from a glove donated to RVA Sandlot. These things chock full of’em
Between the low stone cemetery and the abandoned
elementary we're digging up
a diamond
Admittedly turning up more rocks strange twists
gleaning metal
than flawless innings though
More crabgrass
splintering infield than shattered ash
shards of maple
In the hole more
backache than back
hand gems
More guessing at the edges
sure
Lanterns are lit
Thursday nights mind you that Magnolia
in center merits two in relay
no shame in moving
like spaghetti
westerns
And albeit spoils in sprained
ankles
a charlie
horse a charlie
horse and a charlie horse
for every phantom hill
But still
More laughter in forgiving
foul territory
than not
Multiple mods in this one. And this one may draw some ‘overkill’ or 'But why even bothers' from allllll sorts of folk, but those are some of the pieces I love best. Great learning projects. Whole lotta horses under this relative Dodge Aries now
Modified the web system by Dremeling a new hole at the tip of the thumb to create a Wilson Style system separate and stabilized from the finger lacing which normally extends into the top of the web spiral.
Dremelled new holes at the top of the pinky to convert the finger lacing into the Wilson pattern for extra stability.
Better looks at Wilson finger style modification. Note the lace pattern change.
Since the palm liner is cloth (which is terrible but something I plan on being able to amend very soon), I installed my 'Mid-size' palm pad utilizing a cut pattern that creates an air pocket absorbing even more shock than the 5oz thick oil-tanned insert.
Customized pad did wonders to both vastly protect from shock as well as to reclaim the collapsed pocket in a manner that follows the intended close of the glove itself.
Before conditioning all the way, I did give it a light coat of Fiebing's Pro Dye and sealed with diluted Resolene.
The white binding in the Before was also cloth beneath a thin veneer of poly which stripped in cleaning. Dyed the cloth binding black and sealed in multiple layers of Resolene.
